RECENT PROJECTS INCLUDE:

The Round Foundry

The strip out and structural alterations to a grade 3 listed Georgian foundry building in Leeds city centre which is being restored into office, retail and restaurant facilities. The works required asbestos removal and careful demolition and phasing in order to restore the building which was in poor structural condition, whilst maintaining much of the original features and fabric of the building.
Freeport Fleetwood

Rejuvenation of Freeport retail outlet village. The works involved asbestos removal, stripping out retail units for refurbishment and full demolition of a number of units to enable construction of new stores. A redundant working trawler which had been lifted out of the adjacent dock and placed as a feature was decontaminated and demolished. The Retail Park remained open to the public for trading throughout the contract.

Leeds City Museum

Conversion of the Leeds Civic Theatre into a Museum. The project involved considerable remodelling of the remaining building to accommodate the new museum lay out which alongside the removal of asbestos and a comprehensive strip out of the building, encompassed extensive structural alterations. These included re-roofing works and the demolition of staircases, floors and internal structural walls around extensive temporary works. The works also involved the strip out of the existing auditorium including the stage, proscenium arch, tiered seating and back stage equipment and dressing rooms. All this had to be carried out within a tight and intricate program of works.
Meadowhall Shopping Centre

Reconfiguration of the former Sainsburys store to accommodate an extension to the shopping malls and the construction of a new floor to increase retail capacity. The works included the demolition of existing floors involving the removal of composite concrete decks with profile metal decking and associated steel work, removal of blockwork walls, insitu concrete staircases, entrance screens and canopies and the stripping out of plant and equipment. Extensive use of our Brokks meant the works could be undertaken safely without extensive temporary works ensuring tight program constraints were adhered to.

Hallamshire Hospital, Northern General Hospital and York Hospital

The refit out of cancer care, critical care and post operative units at major city centre hospitals. The works involved asbestos removal and the phased strip out of existing hospital units including demolition of internal walls. The works were carried out adjacent to live theatres and intensive care units. This involved working closely with the client and occupants in order to comply with the strict working practices with regard to working hours, dust and noise restrictions and with debris being removed through live areas of the hospital.

HMP Preston

Re-roofing of the chapel at Preston Prison. The works involved the removal of the roof structure including asbestos roof tiles and the strip out of the first floor of the chapel whilst the ground floor remained in operation. All the works were within the confines of a live prison which required stringent compliance to security regulations.

Carlton House

Demolition of an existing residential facility to facilitate the construction of a primary care centre. The works involved the full demolition including asbestos removal of a 40 bed existing residential care facility.
